Codes and meaning definitions
Connotative- the emotions and associations known to a word.
Qualitative research- it is a method of inquiry employed in many different academic disciplines traditionally in social sciences but it is also used in market research, business and other different contexts.
Quantitative research- it is a formal, objective, systematic process in which numerical data are used to obtain information about the world. This research method is used to describe variables; to examine relationships among variables and to determine cause and effect interactions between variables.
Primary Research- it is new research carried out, to answer specific issues or questions, it can involve questionnaires, surveys or interviews within small groups.
Secondary Research- It involves the collection, summary and collation of existing research.
Objective Research- something that one's effort or actions are intended to attain or accomplish.
Subjective Research- it is one person's opinion and it can be based on fact but is one person's interpretation of that fact.
Valid Research- it refers to how well a piece of research actually measures to what it is set out to do or how well it reflects the reality it claims to represent.
Reliable- consistently good in quality or performance
Analogue technology- it is a device or system that represents changing values as continuously variable physical quantities
Digital technology- it is a base two process. It is information that is recorded in binary code of combinations of digits such as 0 to 1.
Synergy- the interaction or combination of two or more organisations, substances or other agents.
Personalisation- the individual has the ability to tailor something to their own needs.
Convergence- the process or state of convergence
Interactivity- it is a dialog that occurs between a human being or a computer program.
Dennotative- is a translation of a sign to its meaning, precisely to its literal meaning, more or less like dictionaries try to define it. Denotation is sometimes contrasted to connotation, which translates a sign to meanings associated with it.
Signifier- a sign's physical form (such as a sound, printed word, or image) as distinct from its meaning.
Signified- the meaning or idea expressed by a sign, as distinct from the physical form in which it is expressed.
Semiotics -the study of signs and symbols and their use or interpretation.
